LaMerle's Blog

September 2008
Greetings. HIV/AIDS infected inmates are no longer isolated to one prison in order to curb the spread of the disease, they are spread throughout the prison populations.

It is imperative to your health and safety needs, that when considering dealing in a sexual way with a person paroling from prison, that you test them; it is your responsibility to protect you and your family.

The Government is not protecting your children from child molesters, neither are they protecting them or you from rapists, murderers, etc. Rehabilitation is a joke in California prisons. As the system currently exists it is designed to fail, in so operating a system the offender and the jailer is guilty of the continuous crimes you suffer at the hands of ex-offenders. You too are guilty, in your quest/reaction to feel safe, you continue to set yourself up to political/whimsical/victim-rights groups duping. New laws are not the answer, compassionately dealing thorough realistic rehabilitative measures is the only way to heal an offender, so that he/she does not make a future victim. Your choice.

To every person taking the time out of their schedule to re-view the ideas/opinions on this site, thank you and it is appreciated.

I must also thank some other people; Kasey (web-designer), thank you for being receptive to my ideas in action-sense, when many others listened just because I would not shut up, you heard me and are helping me do something about it, thank you; and thanks to Lana, Billy (ghost), and your girls for supporting you while you support this.

Melvina (Pooh), words will never suffice to explain the bond we have developed; to love like this I would do the sentence many times over. You have encouraged me to find and love my-self, something I thought I had mastered, but in fact hadn't even really touched; in so aiding me to find self, I learned that my imprisonment had started way before the physical-bondage had begun. You are special, God will deliver that special-man, you will have lots of babies, and I will spoil my nieces and nephews; thanks for loving me down, as well as up, I could not ask for a better younger sister.

Gramps/grams/children/parents/siblings/friends; apologies for needing this route to find self; know that you are appreciated, and for my failings, I apologize.

And to every incarcerated human being allowing themselves to be exposed so that our communities can heal; you are displaying that which is necessary for redemption/forgiveness.

In spite of my circumstances, over the years God has blessed me and I need to say thank you.

That you, Kasey for taking the chance in this endeavor to bring about change, you are special and your family and community are blessed to have you.

To Michelle and her son Joaquin, spiritually every day you challenge my growth in the word, and in life; we do not always see eye-to-eye, but substantial growth is usually achieved when in discomfort.

To my Grandparents, you have never failed to be the guiding light through my life-storms, and without you I would never have been able to become me. To my Mom and Dad, your reflection is my mirror, and from you I know that I am loved, ditto. To my siblings, forgive me for failing in this to at times be the brother I could/should have been and/or the one you thought I was, big brothers are human and sometimes must fail in order succeed. To my friends, mentors, and others; thank you, in every encounter there is a blessing to be had, whether immediately perceived as good or bad, growth can come from it. I have not always been who I can be, forgive me my trespasses and know that dislike fails to work for me. Take care and God bless.

To my children. Deja, La Merle Jr., Leah, thank you for your unknown patience with my failures as a father. Never was it my intent to put you/us through this; my failure was in failing to be conscious of all of my actions, and for such failures AI caused you pain. I cannot un-do yesterday, but know that every day you are on my mind and are my motivation to be better in all that I do. In every breath I breath, you are loved.

To recent authoress, Melivina Hayes, you did that and do that. Through your pains you will heal many, and you are the best sister a brother could hope/pray for.

If I failed to mention you by name and it would have aided you in some way, know that it was not my intent not to aid you in healing. God bless us all, Peace!

Humbly, LaMerle Johnson
